HYDROPNEUMATIC PUMPING SYSTEM

Hydro Pneumatic pumping system is supplied fully assembled with manifolds on both the suction and downstream sides. These would commonly include manifolds, valves for isolation, non-return valves, pressure transmitters, Gauges and also tank-level inputs where required. The pressure Booster System consists of an automatic pressure-controlled pump and a tank, which contains an air-filled poly-ether-urethane (PEU) bladder. The water gets pumped in this tank that compresses it and pressurizes the bladder, which maintains the desired pressure within the whole water system. This automatic system requires no manual intervention and is built for low maintenance. As the entire home plumbing is kept under pressure by the system it is vital that reasonable standards have been used in water piping and fixtures. The system can have single or multiple pumps depending on the requirement and design.

Description

FEATURE

  • Automatic operation of the system, water under pressure whenever required.
  • The pressure booster system will work in homes with and without the overhead tank. They can replace the overhead tank provided continuous power is available. The composite material (FRP) tank ensures that the vessel never corrodes and that no harmful traces of metal (as in steel tanks) pass into your water.

 BENEFITS

Consistent water pressure on all floors.

  • Pressurized full-flow shower, which you always wanted.
  • Consistent water flow in bathtubs, dishwashers, showers and garden hose.
  • Modern fittings like mixers require an optimum pressure to function efficiently. Since this pressure is normally not available with an overhead tank, the booster system makes the presence of such fittings more meaningful.
  • Complete and efficient management of water pressure.

SYSTEM OPERATION

  • Based on sensor inputs the pumps are staged or destaged. Controlling VFD speed and monitoring the motor performance to meet system demands are the overall functions of the pump controller. The controller combines PID functions, set point modifications and system component status into a single, central, user-friendly control cabinet. When demand occurs, the controller senses the pressure drop in the delivery line through the pressure transmitter. Initial water demand is met by a pre-charged pressure vessel. Should the water demand continue the system pressure will dip to a preset pump cut–in point and the controller starts the first pump on VFD. The pump set gradually speeds up to achieve the set pressure. The controller will continuously scan and compare actual pressure with the set pressure and the speed of the lead pump varies according to requirement. When demand increases, pressure in the system will drop further. The speed of the lead pump will increase to its maximum, and then lag pump(s) will be called on after a time delay and will operate in parallel with a lead pump to try and maintain the set pressure.
  • At peak demand all the pumps operate, similarly, if there is a drop in water demand the duty pump speed starts to reduce, then lag pumps cuts-off, followed by the stopping of the duty pump.
  • A pressure vessel is connected on the discharge side to take care of small requirements. It also reduces the number of Start / Stop pumps and reduces water hammering in the delivery line.
  • The pumping system maintains a constant pressure regardless of the system’s demand.

HYDRO PNEUMATIC TANKS

There are several different functions that a hydropneumatic tank can perform. In a booster pump application, it can provide water to the system during periods of a no-flow shutdown of the booster pump or it can provide water to replace leak loads. In a well water application, it can provide the desired volume of water required between the pump shut-down pressure and the pump turn-on pressure.

HMI AND CONTROLLER

An HMI is mounted on the panel door and the processing unit is mounted inside the control panel. HMI is for monitoring the unit and the processing unit is for standby pumps. The controller is provided with PID control. There can be variations as per the User’s demand of providing data linkages with the main Building control system in the case of large complexes.

CONTROL PANEL

An IP 54 powder-coated steel enclosure house all the electrical components inclusive of the VFD and controller. The panel is built to start the pumps in suitable starting methods. Up to 5.5 KW DOL methods, 7.5 and above Star / Delta method is used to start the pumps. The control panel is equipped with necessary circuit breakers and isolators. Variable Frequency Drive is used by standard and reputed manufacturers like Rockwell, Danfoss, ABB, OMRON etc.

ASSEMBLY AND TESTING

The system is completely assembled at the S.S.CONTROLS  factory in New Delhi. The system is fully tested, hydraulically and electrically prior to dispatch.
